Fetching Latest Capabilities from Clients
When a CTE Agent supports a capability but the CipherTrust Data Security Platform Service with which the Agent is registered doesn't, the CipherTrust Data Security Platform Service ignores the unsupported capability. After the CipherTrust Data Security Platform Service adds support for a new capability, as identified in the changelog, the CipherTrust Data Security Platform Service administrator can fetch the latest capabilities from all the active clients present without requiring the Agent restart.
To fetch the latest capabilities from active clients:
Log on to the CipherTrust Data Security Platform Service GUI.
Open the Transparent Encryption application.
Navigate to Settings > Client Information and Capabilities.
Under Request Capabilities from All Clients, click Get Capability.
A confirmation message appears stating that this is a time intensive operation and would run in the background. This process may take a few minutes to complete depending on the number of active clients in the current domain. The active CTE clients will continue working with no impact. Do you want to continue?
Click Get Capability.
The latest capabilities are fetched from all the active CTE clients.
Note
When a request to fetch the latest client capabilities is in progress, triggering the operation again will lead to an error message.
